Watch Sagy introduce himself and explain why Restart Abroad exists.
When a family moves abroad, life suddenly turns into one big question mark. There's excitement about the fresh start, but at the same time there's also a lot of stress and uncertainty. You have to deal with endless bureaucracy and logistics, learn a new culture and a new language - and on top of all that, there's the human side: saying goodbye to friends and family, feelings of loneliness, and sometimes even an identity or professional identity crisis - especially for spouses who arrive in a new country without employment and need to reinvent themselves, which applies to more than 50% of expat spouses.
Large organizations usually help with the logistics of the move and sometimes offer subsidized emotional or professional support, but it still often feels like you're dealing with it alone. No one really looks at the full picture of adjustment - the person, the family, the career… yet each part affects all the others.
That's what Restart Abroad is for!
I’m Sagy, 42, married and a father of two. I’ve lived in four countries and worked in four different professions. I have a Master’s degree in Social Work, but I later retrained as a programmer and worked in tech for five years. After that, I made another transition and became a lecturer on proper use of AI tools at universities, government offices, big businesses, and many other organizations.
Ever since I can remember, I've always wanted to help people. In the past, I founded two social ventures: one that helps poor people get free furniture and appliances, and another focused on relocations - helping people living abroad find career jobs in a foreign country. Over the years, I deeply researched the expat community to truly understand the challenges and solutions, and developed a practical model that covers everything a family goes through - from logistics and career, all the way to family and our mindset.
I've conducted hundreds of interviews with expats and spouses, talked to HRs in various countries and industries about expat spouse careers and read dozens of research papers in addition to my own experience. It is very clear that almost all of us are facing somewhat similar difficulties yet try to solve them by themselves. To reinvent the wheel, when so many others have already done that before. Such a sad waste that leads to so many unnecessary complications.
Today, I use all this experience and knowledge to help families and organizations handle moving abroad in a healthier and more effective way - accelerating the adjustment process and easing the transition. I offer lectures, personal guidance, and digital tools that help families navigate the move more smoothly - and turn moving abroad from a crisis into a real opportunity.
