The Restart Abroad process
This is how we will work together.

Step 1: Before we begin
Before we meet, you receive an intake form to describe your specific situation: legal status, family, job, languages, etc.
I use this information to research your specific situation in advance so I can come prepared.
Step 2: the 8 aspects of Restarting Abroad
Over the years I created a holistic framework to ensure no part of your life is left behind in the move. Together we will map your situation according to this framework to achieve clarity.

Getting a house and a car, setting up utilities and more.
Cultural
Understanding the language, driving culture and other social norms.
Social
Making new friends and support systems while maintaining our original ones.
Family

Frequently asked questions
Restart Abroad is especially relevant for expat spouses and first-time expats.
Some clients are preparing for a move, while others already relocated and feel overwhelmed, stuck, isolated, or unsure how to rebuild their life abroad.
I work with individuals, families and organizations supporting relocating employees and their partners. Contact me for more details.
I don't claim to know every city or country in the world. What I do know from years of research and conversations with many expat spouses, is that people relocating abroad often face the same types of challenges, even if the details differ.
For example, I may not know the exact CV standard in every country, but I do know that many people lose months of opportunities because they simply translate their resume instead of adapting it to the local work culture, expectations, and terminology.
The same applies beyond careers. Relocation can affect relationships, mental health, parenting, identity, and social life. Many people feel isolated, overwhelmed, or unprepared for the realities of starting over abroad.
My role is to help people recognize these common challenges early, understand how they apply to their specific situation, and build a realistic plan around their own circumstances - whether that involves language barriers, work permits, children, career changes, or adapting to a new culture.
Most services offer a specific limited solution, but getting help just with finding a house or just with emotional support is not enough, as relocation is changing EVERYTHING.
I have researched the problem of moving abroad as a whole. I mapped out the common problems and solutions from hundreds of unique cases and situations, so my expertise is in the moving process itself and how to rebuild our new entire life better and faster.
That said, I also have a Masters degree in Social Work, years of experience in helping expat spouses find career jobs abroad and have moved between 4 different countries, which forced me to reinvent myself professionally 4 times…
So I offer concrete and deeply specialized capabilities in every aspect of the move as well.
Ideally, yes. While I can help with figuring out which country/city is better for you, my main advantage is helping with the moving process itself.
Absolutely.
Many people reach out after the relocation itself, when the logistics phase is over and new challenges begin:
- loneliness
- career uncertainty
- family tension
- lack of daily routine
- cultural integration issues
This is common and often exactly when support becomes most valuable.
The intro session is a chance for you to clearly understand your main challenges, strengths and how they affect each other.
We'll map out your current status on each of the 8 aspects of Restarting Abroad and see where the blockers are, what to anticipate next, where to focus our efforts efficiently and where we can get support in our new ecosystem.
You will gain a better understanding of what you need to do next to concretely improve your life abroad.
Relocation affects almost every part of life simultaneously, so we can work on a wide range of topics, including:
- career and professional direction
- social integration and community
- cultural adaptation
- family adjustment
- practical logistics
- our mindset
- our relationship abroad
- specific expat spouse challenges
That said, I am not a lawyer, tax advisor, realtor, etc. I can help to some extent with all aspects of the move, but if I will see you need a specific expert, I will say it clearly and help you find someone.
Yes. This is one of the most common challenges expat spouses face.
Sometimes continuing the same career abroad is realistic. Sometimes it requires retraining, remote work, freelancing, studying, starting a business, or exploring entirely new directions.
The goal is not to force a perfect solution immediately, but to build a realistic path based on:
- your goals
- legal limitations
- time frame
- family situation
- financial considerations
- and the realities of your host country
As I used to teach proper use of AI tools, I will be more than happy to help you learn how to utilize AI to your professional advantage as well.
It depends entirely on the situation.
Some people only need a single clarity session to organize their thoughts and priorities. Others prefer ongoing support across several stages of the move.
That's why I offer:
- single sessions
- multi-session relocation packages
- and bulk session options for organizations
We can decide together what level of support makes sense for you.
